The Indian Institute of Technology Ropar (IIT Ropar) is a public technical university located in Rupnagar, Punjab, India, which was established in the year 2008.

It is one of the eight newer Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), 

The Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act, 2011, was enacted by the Government of India to broaden its reach and improve the quality of technical education across the nation.

IIT Ropar is among the eight young IITs ranked 68 as per “The Asia University Rankings 2022”. 

The institute has achieved the 35th position overall and the 22nd position in the engineering category of the NIRF ranking 2022. 

IIT Ropar is conducting admissions for the academic year 2022–23. For MTech admissions, GATE COAP 2022 Round D results are now out.  

As described earlier, IIT Ropar is located in Rupnagar, Punjab, India. The Indian Institute of Technology Ropar specializes in engineering, science, and technology education. 

Having initially been based on a temporary campus, IIT Ropar has now started operations from its permanent campus at Birla Seed Farms. The computer science department was the first to move to this new 500-acre home, with the electrical engineering, chemistry, and mechanical departments soon to follow.

IIT Ropar consists of 10 academic departments in total. These are Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Humanities and Social Sciences, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, and Physics.

The Indian Institute of Technology Ropar is one of the top public universities in Punjab, India. It is ranked #261–270 in the Asian University Rankings 2022 and #25 in the Indian rankings.
